AUSTIN HEALEY 3000

We are pleased to be able to offer far sale this fine example of the Austin Healey 3000.

This particular model can only be described as concours, with a very interesting past.

One of the 1960's most charismatic rally cars; the 3000 MKI was introduced in March 1959. Capable of nearly 120mph, it was powered by an enlarged 2912cc version of the BMC C-Series straight six engines that developed some 124bhp and 167lbft of torque. Although equipped with a similar chassis design to its 100/6 forebear, the new model enjoyed notably better braking, thanks to the adoption of Girling front discs. Fitted with wire wheels and adjustable front seats as standard, it was available in two-seater (BN7) or 2+2 (BT7) guises.

According to it's accompanying, British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate, this particular BT7 example was dispatched on 30th May 1960 to the A. Bruggemann & Company GMBH dealership of Dusseldorf, Germany. Whom sold the car to a United States army commander whom shipped the car to his home in California. As left-hand drive export model, its original specification included a heater, overdrive, laminated windscreen, miles-per-hour speedometer and Colorado Red paintwork. Converted to right-hand drive as part of an extensive restoration that was carried out in 2003 by Chatham Healey, also saw its engine overhauled and interior professionally re-trimmed.

Today it can be found in excellent condition, with regard to its engine, manual gearbox, electrical equipment, interior trim, bodywork and paintwork. Riding on silver-painted wire wheels and boasting a stainless steel exhaust, all rebuilt or refurbished within the restoration. At present, the Healey is only rarely used for shows and recently picked up another title of a concourse prize-winning example.

This appealing Austin Healey is once again now offered for sale by ourselves along with BMIHT certificate and a full documented restoration portfolio that includes step by step detail, along with a full album of photographs of the complete restoration.

The weather attachment side screens along with hood are to be supplied with the Healey.

The present owner has maintained and kept the car to a superb standard along with dehumidified storage when not in use.
